“This will be perfect” said Richard Ragless after he purchased Sections 63, 64 and 209 of the Hundred of Adelaide in 1868. “I’ll call it Tonsley and begin farming the new land.” And so began the first post indigenous era of innovation, sustainability practices, entrepreneurship and education at this site, an agricultural era which lasted for the next 86 years.
‘Walk’ with Tonsley pioneers from the different eras along a secret trail to discover the rich cultural and industrial heritage of this site and the ways these themes have been interpreted in the new Tonsley development.
